How a portrait is made

You pay when you order, because every portrait is made to order.

  1. Send your photos

    One to ten photos from your phone. We choose the best to work from.

  2. Choose a style

    Twelve art styles. Add a prop or a setting if you like, such as a crown or a garden.

  3. Approve the portrait

    Two versions to choose from and two more attempts, free. Nothing is printed until you approve.

  4. Hang it

    We print and frame it in the United States and send it to your door, ready for the wall.

Why do I pay before I see the portrait?

Every portrait is made to order, so there are no free previews. You pay at checkout, we create it, and you approve it before anything is printed. You see the frame colors and the final price before you pay.

Can I change it if I do not like it?

You get two versions to choose from and two more attempts, free. When you approve one, it is locked and goes to the printer. After that, contact us and we will help.

How long does it take?

We start as soon as you pay, and email you when your portraits are ready to approve. Once you approve, printing and framing take two to three business days, then shipping. For Christmas, order by the date shown on this page and approve your portrait within a day.

What is it printed on, and what are the frames like?

Giclée prints with archival inks, on fine-art paper or canvas. Framed prints come in solid wood frames in black, white, natural oak or gold, and framed canvases float in a black, white, gold or silver frame. The frames in our pictures are the ones we ship.

How is my portrait made?

An AI image model creates your portrait from your photos, in the style you choose. You pick the version you like, and before anything is printed a person on our team checks every approved portrait.

Which photos should I upload?

Between 1 and 10 clear photos taken on your phone. Show the face in good light, ideally from the front and the side. We choose the best to work from.

Can I send it as a gift?

Yes. Enter their address at checkout and we ship the framed portrait straight to them. The parcel has no prices or invoice inside. Gift links, where they upload their own photos, are coming later.

Which animals can you make portraits of?

We launch with the species we have tested and are happy with. If yours is not on the list when you upload, tell us. We count every request.

Where do you ship?

Only to addresses in the United States for now, and prices are in US dollars.

What happens to my photos?

They are stored privately and used to make your portrait. To create it, a copy with the location and camera details removed is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI).
